How 2nd Place Was 1st for Us

A group of two started on a journey last December to start a non-profit to share the benefits of diving with people that have various disabilities. This grew to 3 people, then 5 amazing board members and one support person (me). We started the hard work of becoming a federally recognized non-profit. Learn more about Scuba Access For everyone:

In mid June the subject of joining the Hillsboro rotary clubs 4th of July parade was discussed. Knowing it would be a super tight schedule the 6 said “lets do this”. With a few concepts and a little bit of design the float was started. We had 16 volunteers that put in countless hours creating our little float. 10 days later we were at the staging area excited to have accomplished so” much.

It was a huge surprise when a member of the Rotary club came to our float and presented us with a second place ribbon. We could not be more excited to have done so well on our first try at something like this.

That is how 2nd place felt like first to us.

Hope you had a Happy Independence Day
